That's a step in the right direction for Colorado...but I'm okay with them languishing in the basement of the Pac-12. Who else will our men's basketball team have to beat up on? (Sigh.)

Uhhh...didn't Stanford lose to Colorado both times last season? :(
Back during the reign of King McCartney The Pious - Redrum - 05-31-2013
and his evil Chancellor Neweasel, Colorado was a playah on the national scene. Took an evil striped wizard to conjure up an extra down to do it, but they prevailed.
Since then, maybe soured by the defection of Neweasel despite the riches they laid on him, they've more or less unilaterally disarmed. I think they saw joining the Pac-10/12 was a strategic move given that the look to the east and south in the Big 12 was scary. And they wouldn't be the first school to fall under the spell of the Rickscott The Deceiver. But I bet the NEW athletic director at Colorado will pitch and will in fact be tasked, with raising the athletic dept. to Pac-12 competitiveness and his/her ability to sell themselves as a program remaker (" During my tenure, I raised the attendance at Grinnell College soccer games from 35 to 125 per game, a 300% improvement") will determine who gets the job.

Hence the sigh. Because when Colorado joined the Pac-12, I did not ever envision Stanford losing to Colorado...
