UCLA added to its national championship total with its first CWS title yesterday.

Their last 2 losses were to Stanford as they went undefeated through the Regionals and CWS. Maybe we deserved a bid.Â
Also, if you were wondering what happened to Paly QB Christoph Bono from their state championship team, he plays a nice left field for the Bruins.Â

It really is too bad we couldn't close out the women's water polo championship.
But on the bright side, it's nice to throw a little water on the SEC uber alles talk that is so constant from ESPN. Two years in a row a Pac12 team beat an SEC team. Having 6 straight years of an SEC team in the final 2 is a pretty amazing run, though.

Maybe the tournament selection committee should use a ranking method that's better than the RPI.

RPI seems to get used as a metric of convenience.

Oregon, Oregon St., USF, and Santa Clara were a collective backbreaker. Everything in the first half of the season was mildly excusable...but if you're going to catch fire to earn your berth, you can't start too late.
Look at the strings of W's and L's.

Unhappy about UCLA winning this championship: I want to catch them in total national championships. I wish this would be an announced, affirmed goal of the Stanford athletic department.

I don't know if you want to tout an opponent's superiority in any metric, but I think the AD is well-aware of the NC count :p
