Will he ever be fitted for big boy pants? - OutsiderFan - 07-16-2013

Just looking at the Stanford football roster today and noticed Kyle Murphy is listed at 6-7 and only 272.  I understand he didn't use a redshirt in his initial year on the farm, but would it behoove Murphy to use it, maybe in 2013 in an effort to pack on some weight?  It seems it will be tough for him to become a starter under I would imagine 290.

Those were his measurements from Spring, so hopefully he manages to get up to at least 290 before the start of the season. In any case, his weight seems to be the main issue why the battle for the starting LT spot was won by Peat so quickly. In any case, Murphy is too good a player to keep on the sidelines for a year; even at 272, he would be a great McGillicuddy-esque 6th lineman/hulk blocking TE who would get 20 snaps a game.
