Noor Davis to inside linebacker - AthleticsDynasty - 08-02-2013

There is a rumor that Noor Davis is moving inside. What do you guys think?

Re: Noor Davis to inside linebacker - OutsiderFan - 08-02-2013

I have no idea what to think other than Stanford has now achieved what many people probably thought impossible.  Stanford now has guys on defense who can't get on the field at Stanford, but could probably start at other BCS conference schools.

Without Davis in the mix, it seems this is a reasonable LB pecking order:

OLB: Murphy, Vaughters, Lueders, Anderson, Kalambayi, Tyler, Veach (Dickerson and/or Holuba)

ILB: Skov, Tarpley, Lancaster, Hemschoot, Martinez, Palma, Perez, Folau (Okereke and/or Alfieri)

Just looking at the depth chart, Davis would seem to have fewer guys to fight for playing time over at ILB, given Skov and Lancaster are both gone after this season.  Davis still looks like he needs to add weight, but not as much to play ILB.

The inside linebacker roster shows the logic - Redrum - 08-02-2013

Skov, Tarpley, Lancaster, Martinez, Palma, Perez, Folau (Okereke and/or Alfieri)

Skov, Lancaster are gone after this season.  I think Tarp has one more year.  That leaves us with little experience inside.  Martinez and Palma have seen little playing time.  If we are lucky in the injury dept., they won't see a lot of playing time this coming season.  The rest of your list are guys who aren't even on campus and a couple who haven't committed / signed.  Makes sense for Davis to move inside now. He also needs to bulk up another 10 or so.

Don't forget Hemschoot!  He's also really young for his class so he probably needed the extra time to develop.

This might be Hemschoot's last season - Redrum - 08-02-2013

Time flies.  Yes he was young, but now he's listed as a senior.  Don't know if he redshirted, but this could be his last season.  Depends on whether they'd rather use his scholarship on the class of '14 and get some other kid in the development pipeline.  Or, he might be the kind of player to stick around for the '14 season.  If he has a dynamite '13 season, they might want to keep him around.  Or, he might want to move on.

Oh yes.  Fixed now.
