My Idea for a Game Day Flag -- Maybe It's Been Done - oman - 08-16-2013

So I see that my adopted team UTSA is likely using gloves based on an old Texian battle flag: 



I don't like tricked up gloves but it made me think that if we were to have a flag, it could look like this one.



The flag was used by the Massachusett's Navy according to wiki, and based on some ramblings of John Locke, which I certainly could see written up on the walls of Ms. Stanford's Church.  I like the reference to Robber in the first sentence, and the idea that you only appeal to Heaven when all hope is lost.

“What is my Remedy against a Robber, that so broke into my House? Appeal to the Law for Justice. But perhaps Justice is denied, or I am crippled and cannot stir, robbed and have not the means to do it. If God has taken away all means of seeking remedy, there is nothing left but patience. But my Son, when able, may seek the Relief of the Law, which I am denied: He or his Son may renew his Appeal, till he recover his Right. But the Conquered, or their Children, have no Court, no Arbitrator on Earth to appeal to. Then they may appeal, as Jephtha did, to Heaven, and repeat their Appeal, till they have recovered the native Right of their Ancestors, which was to have such a Legislative over them, as the Majority should approve, and freely acquiesce in.”[2]

I'd scratch out the word "An" and give the tree some scrawny arms and legs.  If I could photo shop I would show you.

"Appeal to God" is often used as the caption and that seems stronger and meaner to me."

The flag may be subject to some satire.



Season needs to start.  Can't believe we aren't playing the first week....

Maybe all you yankees know the An Appeal to Heaven flag but its the first I have ever seen of it.

I lived in New England for most of my life (admittedly RI, not Mass) and haven't seen it before.
