Remember the **** we get for low attendance? - Redrum - 10-07-2013

Standard snarky comments.  K.al supporters have lead the jeers. Check out the home side of CMS last Saturday.  You can see lotsa gold because the students apparently decided en masse not to represent.  Maybe more people up on Tightwad Hill.  If the game performance didn't leave Sandy Barbour curled up in the fetal position, surely the attendance did.

Man, if you can't get 18-19 yr. olds jacked for a game,  who can you depend on?

Saw the game at one of the eateries at Tressider, and noticed how many gold seat gaps were visible for a game that represented UCB's best chance for a conference game home win.

There were 4 Pac-12 home games last weekend.  The event at Stanford Stadium was the only one to have official attendance exceed 50,000.  The other 3 were all in the 40,000 range.

FWIW - I don't think people are sitting on Tightwad Hill.  Rather I think most casual fans realize that if they are not in one of the 50k - 60k best seats, then it is better to just watch football at home in HDTV.  It might just be that CMS is still too big and the complex gameday travel logistics, limited parking, and inhospitable surrounding environment might mean the UCB AD can't compete with the HDTV option.  That change in viewing preferences might also be keeping Barbour up at night since the only way to improve the pre and post game logistics challenges would be to build a new stadium in a fan friendly location.

I had a Berkeley grad student friend (Texas undergrad) post a very upset facebook status about parking on campus during gameday.  She's not a football fan.
