Playing uncomfortable - OutsiderFan - 10-26-2013

While watching what seems to be the most overrated #7 team in the history of #7 teams (Miami) eke out another win against another weak ACC opponent...

The announcers said Miami doesn't play pretty, but it's by design.  Head Coach Al Golden, they said, wants his team to be comfortable being uncomfortable.  What that means is he wants his team to feel comfortable in close games, because that creates toughness and toughness is what it takes to win in the end.

Made me think about Stanford and how Stanford tends to play close, tightly contested games, and tends to win them.

I hope they can win close against FSU because I think FSU is far more likely to go undefeated the rest of the way.  I just hate the idea that of the ACC and the B1G getting teams into the BCS CG this year.  And then in those conferences FSU and tOSU would be the last teams I would want to see in any BCS CG game.  And yet, at the moment it is not that hard to imagine that FSU vs tOSU game.

Well, anyone who has seen a lot of football can tell FSU is an elite team, maybe of all-time.  Winston is as good as Luck as a RS Frosh, with a better supporting cast. If I had to pick a #1 team right now it would be Florida State, even with an ACC schedule.

Winston will be Luck's rival on Sundays.  Not Kap, RG3, or Wilson.  Whenever Winston's name comes up in conversation with other sports fans, I always mention that he got admitted to Stanford.  I know what's going through their minds: "This guy is not going to be another overrated athletic college QB."
