Ducks being the Ducks - JohnR34231 - 10-26-2013

UCLA scores to go up 7-0 and gets them in a 4th and long.

Got 'em on the ropes right?

Wrong. They run a fake punt, take it into the Bruin red zone and are now poised to tie the game.

Bruins are hanging with them.

I've seen this movie!  One of my favorites of all time.  I know logically that we're supposed to cheer for Oregon, but I can't help but cheer for UCLA tonight.  I hate the Ducks.

Officials love not calling holding on Oregon. It's uncanny how much they get away with holding on the edge.

I am cheering for a nice tight contest that gives Stanford a hint of what might work.  So far so good.  Oregon has not looked as dominate when they play teams with winning records.  They still look mighty good, but not unstoppable.

Don't really care that much since Stanford needs to play well tonight for any of this to matter much.

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - washingtonismoney - 10-26-2013

Hundley's ability to stare down receivers is unmatched in the conference. Throws a pick.

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - pcgoode - 10-26-2013

Hats off to the Bruins defence.  Reminds me a lot of what we did to the Ducks last season. Bruins running game is working as well.

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - Bruce Wang - 10-26-2013

Ohio State is gashing Penn State.  It's a tremendously confusing experience for me.  Heart is with OSU.  Brain is with Penn St (really Stanford). Every time Ohio State scores, I'm like "YES!" then my brain chimes in "No."  I'm giving up.  Tuning into the other SC v Missouri.

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - pcgoode - 10-26-2013

Reality starting to catch up with the Bruins. They can't throw the ball downfield.

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - pcgoode - 10-26-2013

Other interesting point: DAT is apparently 100%, but isn't playing much. Not sure I've seen him play in the second half.

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - Farm93 - 10-26-2013

UCLA (the Pac-12's third or fourth best team) has just established that Oregon is better than any Pac-12 South team.

The game went according to schedule really.  Oregon got tested for 2.5 quarters, but then pulled away for a variety of reasons.  I suspect UCLA would have done a touch better in the Rose Bowl and/or if they did not play Stanford last week.

Now it is time for to watch Stanford.

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - pcgoode - 10-26-2013

Oregon was the better team, but they are far from perfect. The Bruins hung with them for three quarters, but they have some serious problems on offence which eventually killed them. Their offensive line can't pass protect, and they can't throw the ball down the field.  I think we can beat them if we play a good game, particularly if Hogan is on his game.

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - TreeFitty - 10-26-2013

Watched Zumwalt act a fool. He got his.

what happened with Zumwalt?

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - Nan3cy - 10-26-2013

Hundley had 64 yards passing?? That is not a typo, as far as I know. Yikes.

Hogan continues to contend for that title though.

I've never understood this meme. It's not a brobdingnagian problem for Hogan. Certainly wasn't tonight.

He was making taunting gestures to Oregon players after tackles, quite flagrantly. I was amazed that nobody 1)threw a flag, or 2)slugged him. Seriously jackass behavior.

Didn't Zumwalt comment after commiting to UCLA that, "I felt like I fit in with the players and coaches."

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - fullmetal - 10-28-2013

I guess Zumwalt self-selected out of the Stanford family quite appropriately...

Re: Ducks being the Ducks - washingtonismoney - 10-28-2013

Shayne Skov's 2009 taunting penalty -- when he blew up Kenjon Barner on a swing pass, IIRC -- was one of my favorite Skov moments ever. So we're not above a bit of demonstrative behavior.

No, the main reason not to be sad about losing Zumwalt is that he's not a great player. He'd be the fourth ILB this year on Stanford.
