They already knocked themselves out of the Sun Bowl thanks to their conduct on and off the field last year.

Those of us born in Michigan have a different view of Ohio State. If not for Hoke's boneheaded decision to go for 2, the Wolverines could have pulled it out in OT. :( At any rate, the Buckeyes were exposed as the beneficiary of a soft schedule. Go Spartans!

Most people would have taken the game to overtime, but something tells me Hoke knew his defense was completely gassed and wouldn't be able to stop a middle school team at that point. A shootout would have still been preferable to throwing to three receivers covered by five DBs.
I am putting my money on the Spartans. Michigan State is built to beat Ohio State: strong rush defense and solid pass coverage. tOSU has stuggled against top 20 defenses (Wisconsin and Iowa) and will be facing the #4 scoring defense in the championship game .

I think that going for 2 was the right decision, but the play they ran was ludicrously stupid. They were giving up a whopping NINE yards per carry to OSU, even though Michigan was moving the ball well too, you can't like your odds in OT when you're doing that. Best case scenario it would basically come down to who screws up a 2-pointer first anyway, you may as well do it early. Plus no one wants to go into OT without a kicker, and Michigan's was injured, right?
But that playcall was so dumb. We give Shaw a lot of grief sometimes (not going to comment on whether it's deserved), but I don't remember a time where he called a throw to a receiver who was guaranteed to be in at least double coverage with NO OTHER OPTIONS. There were 5 DBs on that side of the field against 3 WRs! Who calls that? Who runs that? There way no way that works.

Thank God. This will shut up the Figueroans until we can throttle them at Stanford.
