Self Absorption 101...Enrollment unlimited - Redrum - 12-10-2013

Quote:Dave Newhouse should not be allowed to import his Cal self-loathing and 'the school I wish I had gotten into Wannabee complex onto these pages. Used to like the guy. Now—learn from 'the school I wish I had gotten into, be 'the school I wish I had gotten into. We're not. We're Cal. When we have football success again, it will be on every level completely different because we're not anything of the same kind of institution from top to bottom. We're better because were high quality and, unlike 'the school I wish I had gotten into, open to kinds of persons from every social level of society. Not just kids with four batting coaches, travel team soccer, and rich parents who want to send their kids to pay lots of dough and graduate University. There's good players to be gotten of that kind. We're not getting them and I'm glad we don't even if it means a harder road. It's a better one.

No wonder I had to do a re-fi to pay my kid's Stanford tuition.  Apparently I squandered the college fund earlier on batting coaches.  Total waster of money.  She's never connected with a pitch in her life.

I kind of like #9.

Quote:I wouldn’t argue we should play football like Stanford, I’d argue we should play like Michigan St., which is kind of the same thing, it just avoids focusing on Stanford.

btw, this is the article that the posters found so offensive - http://www.bearinsider.com/news/story.php?article=855

Interesting that Newhouse talks about the quarterback tradition at UCB without mentioning Aaron Rodgers. (Is that because -- I heard -- when he was giving his name and school on MNF, he gave his JC rather than UCB?)

Maybe it's because he only graduated from junior college.  After all we don't call them Low APR U for nothing.

EDIT: Upon some Googling, it appears that Rodgers did not graduate from Kal, and that maybe he actually ended up getting his degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.  Would be awesome if he said UW-Green Bay next time.

I liked the quote "We shouldn't try to emulate Stanford football? So.... What exactly is the plan then?"

What a bunch of bitter weenie losers.  They all wished they had gotten into Stanford.
