RB and SLRs -
pokey - 12-31-2013
Last January, I brought in my Nikon DSLR (5100 - one that you can commonly find at Costco), with a 55-300mm lens, to the Rose Bowl. One of my friends at the stadium was surprised and noted that it was against the Rose Bowl rules to have a camera with a lens longer than 3".
I checked the RB site, and found this:
http://www.rosebowlstadium.com/code-of-conduct
... which, in the section labelled "Prohibited Items", notes that SLRs and cameras with attachments were not allowed.
Is this restriction really enforced these days?

My guess is that the stadium employees can turn a blind eye if the camera doesn't appear to be professional-grade. I brought in a D40x with a 30mm f/1.4 prime just to be safe...great photos of people near me, but nothing good for field action. I'm wondering what I can get away with this year.

Pokey, thanks for your post which helped me avoid potential issues at the gate with one of my cameras and a small cooler.Â
I also learned a new word: "strollers are permitted but must be checked with an usher at tunnel
vomitory."Â
Turns out that a vomitory is "an entrance piercing the banks of seats of a theater, amphitheater, or stadium". But then, most of my fellow CardBoarders already knew that. Thanks to Merriam Webster online for bringing me up to speed.
Less than 32 hours to kickoff. Geaux Cardinal!Â

Might improve your chances if your group has a cute kid to run diversion. =)
