Olugbode - stanfan95118 - 02-06-2014

Has anyone heard whether Olugbode is returning? I happened to glance at the new roster for 2014-15 and it does not list him. His absence would make matters worse at the safety position, IMO. Though many have been associating Hoffpauir with nickel (he did play some there), I think he will play free safety (by necessity) and be a good one. He's a little light, but a strong tackler.

No FS on the roster!

He is returning and will be on scholie.

If anyone ever deserved a break... - Redrum - 02-06-2014

it's Olugbode.  Wait!  Come to think of it, a break is just about the only injury that Olugbode hasn't had.  Very talented but with incredible bad luck in the injury dept.

Whether Olugbode is in the mix or not, it sure seems to me moving Wayne Lyons to FS makes a good deal of sense.

Ronnie Harris, Taijuan Thomas, Ra'Chard Pippens, and the 2014 class, with Terrence Alexander, and Alijah Holder in particular, provide more CB than FS options.  Lyons knows the defense and last year demonstrated some good ball skills.  Plus, he can play CB, so offers some flexibility if say Dallas Lloyd proves to be a good option to play a lot or even be the starter.

As for Hoffpauir, based on what I've seen he seems best suited to SS where he can play close to the LOS.  I don't have any recollection of him doing anything to suggest he can be a FS, but maybe he can, despite being under 6ft tall.

I'm a brobdingnagian Olugbode fan.  He is exactly the kind of man that Stanford should attract.  Great young man, great family. He attended grade school and high school with my oldest son.  Terrific player, glad he's coming back.
