Kickoff time and TV for AZ game -
jayasena - 11-01-2010
Kickoff at 5pm (Pacific).
On ABC... not sure what regions are covered (Missouri - Texas Tech is also on ABC at the same time).
Alternative viewing - Redrum - 11-01-2010
Listed on ESPN3 if you\'re in the areas where Missouri/Texas Tech will pre-empt Stanford.
My experience watching a game streamed on ESPN 3 last time was surprisingly good. Â Better than listening on the radio, though I like Fleming and Husak.

Friend of mine will be in NYC next weekend; where are the Cardinal faithful gathering?

They haven\'t sent out the e-mail yet, but probably either Joshua Tree or Molly Pitcher\'s in the Upper East Side.

I read that the Stanford game will be broadcast to 75% of the country. Â We get the #1 announcing team - Musberger and Herbstreit with Erin Andrews reporting on the sideline.

I will be watching it somewhere in NYC. I need to get on the alumni listserve.

Will someone please explain the logic of blacking out internet streaming of ESPN3 to certain geographies? Â If someone wants to put more eyeballs on a game and see (mostly lame, recycled over and over again) commercials, why wouldn\'t ESPN want that?

Geography isn\'t the issue, it\'s the ISP in question.

Nope, you can actually get ESPN3 on my ISP, but a lot of Pac-10 games show up as "game blacked out in your area".

I believe that ESPN3 blacks out ABC games that are being shown in your local area. Why that is, though, I don\'t know, since they do show locally televised ESPN and ESPN2 games.

Ouch. Â I\'m in the middle of all that blue.
Is ESPN3 an internet-only stream, or is there a broadcast channel as well?
Re: Kickoff time and TV for AZ game -
dabigv13 - 11-04-2010
afaik, it\'s internet only. But there\'s a decent shot that ESPN or EPSN2 will be simulcasting the game as well.

Not looking good for me. Â Arkansas-South Carolina and Texas-Kansas State seem to be dominating the ESPN broadcasts. Â ESPNU is showing Ole Miss vs. UL-Lafayette. Â I might have to bring a PS3 or Xbox to the sports bar and hook up some streaming video (bush league; not even sure if the bar will let us).

Sometimes one of the ESPN channels will broadcast one game on HD, and the other on SD (if I recall correctly, Stanford - Oregon actually was only on in NYC on ESPN2 in standard def). ESPN classic gets in on the mix too.

The magic eight balls says: outlook not so good. Â I found this website on ESPN.com that shows TV listings:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnGuide. Â Punch in 78701 for a zip code and see what madness we\'ll be subject to here in Austin this weekend.

I trust Matt Sarz, if he\'s a real person.

The upshot: Â if you\'re in Blue on the coverage map, it\'s ISP lotto or find a bar with deep enough pockets to have purchased a season of Gameplan (I don\'t think you can buy it for one weekend anymore.)

Ah, if travel were only in my future! I\'m actually missing out on the rollerderby championships in Chicago this weekend (formerly known as nationals, but now just championships due to the inclusion of Canadian and other European leagues into the governing association\'s jurisdiction).
I\'m going to scout the bar location\'s internet, etc today. I might be able to pipe a wireless signal through my laptop to one of their TVs. Or maybe they\'ll have Game Plan.
As for the \'75 vs. \'05 thing, I feel like we should leave that up to an impartial and accurate metric...like maybe a flag football game :p
