2014 Recruiting - Tennis - Robbie - 02-16-2014

What's up with Women's Tennis?

Not a single one of the top fifty players is committed to Stanford.

http://www.tennisrecruiting.net/list.asp?id=1149 - at least in Men's Stanford has two of the top five and three of the top fifty. This seems right. (I assume there are no more than about three recruits per year.)

Re: 2014 Recruiting - Tennis - BobK - 02-17-2014

Maybe only one this year for Stanford to give?  A thought.

Stanford had three recruits in women's tennis in 2013 - Mick - 02-17-2014

It may be that they will have to bypass this year.  Last year, they took Caroline Doyle (#4 overall), Taylor Davidson (#7 overall) and Carole Zhao (Canadian, unrated, but 7-0 her senior year against blue chip high school seniors).

Here's how other Pac-12 schools rank on that 2014 recruiting list:

3, UCLA, Utah
2, UofSC
1, Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, kal, Oregon, Colorado, Arizona
0, Stanford, Oregon State

Incidentally five of the 14 recruits were unranked, given that they were international players like Zhao.

I heard it could be admissions.  One candidate to UCLA but I understand will turn pro.  OTOH we have the # 1 Men's Tennis Class and that probably hasn't happened in awhile.

Re: 2014 Recruiting - Tennis - fullmetal - 04-04-2014

Here's a national perspective on the collegiate men's tennis recruiting landscape from Jan. 27th.  The graphic in the article is quite amusing, and the article gives a fair amount of explanation as to why Stanford's three-man haul is the best in the nation.
