WWP Semifinal: Stanford vs UCB -

They've added a scoring inset, and thus far, we Stanford fans have to like it.
Stanford 5-0 at the end of the first quarter, behind a hat trick from Maggie Steffens.

Stanford leads 13-5 in the 2nd half.
UCLA over ASU in the other semi-final so looks like #1 Stanford vs. #2 UCLA tomorrow for conference championship and overall #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Final Stanford 13, Kal 6 -

Stanford looked good throughout the game. Obviously the 5-0 first quarter won the game. I haven't seen the stats, but my impression is that the 6 on 5 scoring again wasn't that great, but we got lots of opportunities.
2:30PM tomorrow.
Btw, the internet feed was pretty good (not HD though). There was knowledgeable audio with the play-by-play but little chit-chat beyond that.

Agreed, MT. Much better video than yesterday, and I think they decided to simply mike the stadium announcer, who at least kept us abreast of what was happening.
Yep, the Stanford 6v5 is kind of frustrating to watch. So much of the gameplan is to get the ball into 2 meters, and when the opposition is down a player, they simply drop into a packed-in 2-3 and stick up a forest of arms to deny both the entry and a good look at a long shot. Stanford often was getting nothing but a REALLY narrow angle attempt at the end of the clock.
One other thing: to my view (again, hard to tell when dependent on a streamed video), the officials called the game relatively closely - two game exclusions in the first half, penalty shots, and a whole lotta exclusion fouls. I hope someone was there, but was the game that much rougher than normal?
The big thing for me in the result tomorrow: there are 3 really good teams in the field, with SC lagging a bit behind UCLA and Stanford, but the drop-off after that is REALLY steep. Don't want to have to be the team to go through getting beat up by SC in their home pool in the semis.
BTW, 81Alum, I'm wondering if SJSU will make it in - think the fifth at large will be either they or ASU, and the Solar Satans just beat SC in the quarters, while the Spartans dropped that close one to da Bares (and yes, your goalie acquaintance appeared to have a really good match.)
Mike, I think yes. Stanford's ranked #1, and if they win tomorrow, will probably only have to play one tough match to win. MVBall, regardless of the outcome tonight, will more than likely have to play at least 2, and so much can happen on a golf course (also not forgetting women's tennis) that I gotta believe the highest probability to continue the streak is this team.

Hmm, I knew a girl names Steffens while I was there, I wonder if they're sisters. The Steffens I knew (can't remember her first name) was also pretty athletic, so I'm thinking it's somewhat plausible.

Funny, my first thought was Jessica. And we're friends on FB. I wonder how I knew her.
