Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - SamAtoms1980 - 05-30-2014

Klein 3-run HR.  5-0 Cardinal.

Bang City.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Papa John - 05-30-2014

5-1 Cardinal, top of the eighth.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - FarmBoy - 05-30-2014

Game over. Card advances.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Papa John - 05-30-2014

Did anyone else notice that Friday's pitcher for Stanford has the unfortunate first name, C a l?

In any case, Stanford's next game is Saturday at 3 pm, Pacific time versus first-seed and host Indiana. You can watch it on ESPN3.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - CTcard - 05-31-2014

Indiana saved their ace pitcher, Joey DeNato, to pitch against us today. That's relatively safe to do when you face the worst team in the tournament in the first game.

Interestingly, Indiana used their closer, Scott Effross, to have his first career start vs Younstown State. He only went 4 innings and 58 pitches, so I would guess they think he is still available for closing duties if necessary.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - BobK - 05-31-2014

Youngstown beats Indiana State today.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - BobK - 05-31-2014

Lost 4-2 today and play Youngstown State at 10 in the AM

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - SamAtoms1980 - 06-01-2014

Diekroger, Blandino go back to back.  6-2 Cardinal in the second.

Just keep the ship upright, then get ready for shot number two at IU later.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - BobK - 06-01-2014

We win 12-4. Great pitching by Hannewich which means our # 3 starter, Ligan James, will pitch game 4 against Indiana at 3 our time.

Go Card

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - martyup - 06-01-2014

We got bombed in the 1st.  Down 2 runs in the 2nd. Another Stanford homer to make it 3-2.  Go Card!

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Kathy - 06-01-2014

After a disastrous first inning for pitcher Logan James, the Cardinal bats come alive! Successive homers have us back in it, 3-2..

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Leftcoast - 06-01-2014

Out hiking with the fam.  Keep those updates coming!  (And thanks.)

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Spiny_Norman - 06-01-2014

Going to the bottom of the 6th, it is Indiana 5, Stanford 4.  Hoffpauir stranded the tying run at 3rd in the bottom of the 5th.  Indiana has benefitted from 3 Stanford wild pitches.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Viking_Guy - 06-01-2014

Wayne Taylor with a two out three-run homer in the top of the eighth.  Followed by a infield single.

8-7 (Edit: sorry, BobK is right, 7-6) Stanford, still with two out, man on first.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - BobK - 06-01-2014

7-6 bottom of 8.  In AJ we trust.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - martyup - 06-01-2014

Holy smokes!  We're up 7-6 in the 8th.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Viking_Guy - 06-01-2014

Vanegas went down 2-0 against the first hitter, and #9 went to the pen for Brakeman.  He finished the walk, then Indiana sac bunted, Brakeman struck out the next man and retired the final batter on a comebacker to the mound.

Going to top 9, Stanford still leads, 7-6.  But we've had problems closing games all year long.  Hoping for some insurance from the top of the order up this inning.

Re: NCAA Baseball Regionals - Viking_Guy - 06-01-2014

Ask and ye shall receive.  After a leadoff double by Edman, Diekroger bunted him onto third, Blandino singled to drive him home, then Slater hammered the ball into the alley in left-center for a double scoring Blandino.

9-6 with 1 out, top 9.  This is the first time Indiana has trailed this late at home in the last two years' regionals.
