Patrick Rodgers begins his pro career -

Patrick Rodgers is off to a good start at the Greenbrier Classic with a first round 65 (par 70 (but those of you into Tiger Woods Golf already knew that! ;D)). PGAtour.com has a home page link to the story below. Pretty cool.

75 today but he made the cut on the number. Rodgers will earn a check for his efforts in this tournament.

Golf is such an odd game. It is such an impressive exercise in mind/body balance, or at least the search for it. Conditions were apparently a little windier today; the field generally scored higher. I am, nonetheless, intrigued by the phenomenon of a ten stroke swing in back-to-back rounds. He had a 3-stroke swing on the first hole (!) from an eagle 2 yesterday to a bogey today. He had four birdies and an eagle with one bogey yesterday. He had two double bogeys and three bogeys today. The marginal difference in contact between the two days is minuscule. The differential is almost entirely contained in the six inches between his ears.

Rodgers finishes at 277, 3 under par, tied for 45th. He was one shot behind another former Stanford golfer who finished at 276 - 64 year old Tom Watson.

First three tournaments as a pro Patrick makes the cut each time and finishes 44th, 55th and 45th. It's a bigger deal than a lot of people understand, I think.
