When the cable TV rights fee system collapses on itself, a playoff will be the only option to generate more TV revenue. And the Big 5 conferences know it.

I have Direct TV, so I'm cut off from the Dodgers AND Pac-12 Network. I'd love to dump Direct; a-la-carte/pay-per-view would be fine with me at this point.

Schools that banked on TV revenue to build a bloated empire (see a certain school located in Alameda County) are in for a rude shock. Hopefully, this will lead to a lean department with an offering of 10-15 sports.
No wonder they are looking for someone with financial expertise to run the department...
