Yup! There's a few.Â
I always keep an eye on the WVB team even during the height of football season. The four sports I follow most closely are Football, Basketball (M&W) and WVB. For WVB I'll attend several games during the season and catch them on TV when possible.Â
Do you think we warrant a #3 ranking? Seems a bit high. Despite our gaudy 27-6 record last year Stanford struggled when playing highly ranked teams and I wasn't surprised (disappointed but not surprised) when the team didn't advance past the regional final. Stanford's record against teams ranked in the top 10 last year was 2-6. Outside of the top-10 Stanford was 21-0. Our losses weren't confined to the West coast. Stanford lost to three non-West Coast teams, Texas, Florida and, in the Regional Finals, Penn State, all of which were ranked in the top 10.Â
How do you view our ranking and what are the key components that need to improve when playing the best teams in the nation?

First of all many WVB fans might agree with me that we played in the F2 game when we lost to Penn State in 5 games. The
F 4 except for Penn State certainly weren't as good we we were, witess their scores in the F4 against Penn State.
Big losses of course in Wopat, one of the greatest athletes ever at Stanford and Williams. But big gains in Lutz, slightly injured right now, and Brown. All of us who saw Brown last Friday were thrilled.
Three of the six losses were in 5 sets. So close. Which is the key got to win the close games against the top 10.Â
We have talent with AAs Inky, Burgess and Bugg.Â
That said we could start 1-2 and win it all at the end. A very tough schedule.Â

Hey, share your enthusiasm irrespective of whether there are other fans! I bet there weren't any crew fans when this board started.
There are no "Sears" sports here.

Count me a fan.

You lost me Glenn. More games on TV means fewer care? There are 19 games on TV up from. 5 or so pre PAC 12 channel.Â
I understand some big fans live in Florida.

Looks like we might once again have a hard server that does more than put the ball in play. Finesse and short floating aces are nice, but those serves that dent the floor are what get the blood flowing...

Bob--
Count me as a fan of women's v-ball, since the days of the Oden sisters. Hoping that Brittany can take a big step forward in consistency.
Do you think Lutz is a shoo-in at MB2 when healthy - no contest with McGehee? What's your projected rotation?

Nebraska is ranked #7. A great early season inter-conference matchup.

Yes I think Lutz a shoo-in. Mcgehee has shown in her one game a nice slide shot, but Lutz at 6-8 has so much to offer when blocking.Â
Burgess
Howard
Inky/Lutz
Bugg
Morgan Boukather
Gilbert
And a lot of Sidney Brown

Definitely a fan here. My oldest son played both club and college volleyball with Brittany Howard's brother.

I already have a big X on my calendar for Homecoming weekend - 6 pm, Friday, October 24 at Maples vs. UCLA. I'll be there. I watched the women defeat previously unbeaten Oregon during homecoming weekend two years ago. Great match, great crowd.Â

Fan here. Saw 'em in person when they came to Texas. Also know a couple of former players. Wrote about one for an athletic dept book sent to donors.

The Pac-12 net really upped my level of WVB fandom last year. I watched a fair bit on TV. Only went to one game in person, but it was a fun one -- playing Kal at home in Maples.

I've been a casual fan of WVB for many years but usually only made it to one or two live matches a year. In recent years, I only made it to a match every few years. Because so many matches were televised on the Pac-12 network last year, I was able to get to know the team much better. Because of that, I made it to two matches and plan to attend more this year. The Pac-12 Network certainly needs to expand its reach, but for me, it has been a great new place to follow Stanford sports.Â
Cheers,
Pete F.

I have season tickets. Never knew much about VB until maybe 10 years ago when I first went to a match and enjoyed it. I still do not know the sport very well but I enjoy watching.

Also a fan, it's been great being able to watch so many games on TV. I sort of stopped following after moving too far away to go to games regularly, but being able to watch on TV fixed that. Need to figure out a couple games to go to this year, nice to hear the prospects still look great!

I was a brobdingnagian fan as a student. Now that I have a daughter and the Pac-12 network I have been exposing my daughter to as many Stanford women's athletics as possible. She is 4'3" and 61lbs at age 5, so I am hoping she shows an interest and ability in athletics. Volleyball would be a sport I would be happy to have her play.
