Defensive depth this week -
OutsiderFan - 09-01-2014
The depth chart has Shittu on it, so seems he's good to go. Also, Noor D. and Peter Kalambayi are shown as the only backups at ILB and OLB, respectively. Palma and Hemschoot not listed.
Does this mean the latter two are out, or simply that the former two are just the best players and the staff wants them on the field the most? Frankly, Noor D. and Peter K. seem too good to sit much. Given the tempo, the defense will be facing this week, it is a bit surprising to see fewer guys on the depth chart this week than last, unless Palma and Hemschoot are banged up.

Hemschoot went out of the game early against UC Davis and Palma was seen limping a little bit.

While both are true, I wouldn't guarantee that neither of them play. May get some better information from Shaw in the next 2 days as to their status.

from Shaw's presser - Palma and Hemschoot are out for a "couple of weeks."

Seems like Stanford is a lot more open than U$( about who will/won't play. I would rather not know.

Being thin at LB against a quick-snap offense concerns me quite a bit. Better hope for no injuries there during the game and that Stanford can run some clock on offense. If our boys can keep the University of Fake Drowning Nephews to under 75 plays then I like their chances. Above 85 plays and I get concerned.

For perspective, we averaged allowing 70.6 plays per game against us last year.
Four teams broke 75 plays: ASU#1 80, WSU 78, UW 88, OSU 81.
We won all those, but two were tough.
In our losses we allowed MSU 71 plays, USC 64, and Utah 73.
We held Oregon to 58 (likely their season low, but I didn't look it up).
Last week we allowed UC Davis 49 plays.
