RB Touchdown Prediction - Papa John - 09-17-2014

Since this is a bye week, I thought it might be fun to offer a poll to predict which Stanford running back--as defined by the official team roster--will score the first RB rushing touchdown of the year.

To break ties, please indicate the game and the context for this milestone TD, e.g. Remound Wright on a goal-line plunge in the first quarter versus UW.

To date, Stanford's TDs have come via the following methods:
1 punt return
1 QB run
6 passes to WRs
1 pass to RB
1 pass to TE
1 FB run
1 WR run (wildcat formation)

Re: RB Touchdown Prediction - Papa John - 09-17-2014

To start things off, I'll take Barry Sanders, 12-yard run in the second quarter versus UW.

Unless I'm missing something, comments that are entered in the polling space aren't visible to folks. So you'll have to make your comments regarding scoring context by posting a reply.

Barry Sanders 120 yard run in the 1st quarter vs Washington (he will run 43 yards down the field, but an additional 77 yards side-to-side as he jukes the Huskie out of their socks)

Did you mean to make it a public poll? Then everyone could click on "view votes" and see the comments along with the votes.

Re: RB Touchdown Prediction - OutsiderFan - 09-17-2014

I'd say Sanders, but he's never had a red zone carry to my knowledge, so I go with the biggest of the RBs and choose Wright.

Yeah, I tried to make the poll public, but apparently I'm not tech-savvy enough to make it happen. Feel free to fix it, CompSci87. And, if folks like the poll, maybe it could be pinned to the top of the page?

Re: RB Touchdown Prediction - Leftcoast - 09-17-2014

Shaw has used Wright for the tough, inside yards more than Young or Sanders.  That may change over the season but for now I'm going with Wright, 4 yard run off tackle against UW.

compelled to nominate Skov - djones - 09-17-2014

just to compensate for your slight

Re: RB Touchdown Prediction - fullmetal - 09-17-2014

My comment: Shaw is as Shaw does.

Re: RB Touchdown Prediction - CowboyIndian - 09-17-2014

Where are Pat Skov, Lee Ward and Daniel Marx?

Re: RB Touchdown Prediction - BostonCard - 09-17-2014

Believe they were excluded as "fullbacks".  And, given that the poll is asking who the first running back will be to have a rushing touchdown, it deliberately is excluding fullbacks, since Skov already has the first rushing touchdown by a non-QB, non-WR.

Yep, what BC said.

When I saw RB, I immediately thought of "Rose Bowl"!

Sadly, the board software doesn't let even an admin change a poll to public after it's been created.  >:(

Re: RB Touchdown Prediction - Papa John - 10-06-2014

I just remembered that I set up a poll prior to the UW game that requested predictions for the Stanford RB that would score the team's first rushing TD of the season.

We had to wait an extra week, but the winner is Remound Wright, as predicted by the collective wisdom of the CARDBoard (but not yours truly).

Of course, the fact that it took until the fourth quarter of game 5 for a running back to score a rushing TD is a sign of one of several offensive shortcomings for the team.
