49ers coach - yvonne - 09-29-2014

Remember when Jim Harbaugh left for the 49ers, one of the players tweeted "we're free!"? Well, check this article from the SF Chronicle out:

Deion: Players want Harbaugh Out

I appreciate the turnaround and "bow to no program" attitude that Harbaugh brought to Stanford, but maybe it's a good thing he left, and that act was beginning to wear thin on players. Who knows, maybe a big part of the turnaround involved an assistant coach who "got" Stanford.

On a related note, Michigan's getting beaten badly by everyone in the Big Ten, most recently, they lost 30-14 to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Seriously.

Maybe alma mater will come calling.

There was a Grantland article recently about a potential Harbaugh move to Michigan. And of course there were those trade rumors last year. It'll definitely be interesting to see what happens.

They can go to the fashion police to see if local prosecutors have cut any plea bargains lately.

I didn't think pleading was his style.

If you are a "my way or the highway" kind of guy you are tolerated as long as you win, but the moment you start losing you are in big trouble.

The reason, I guess, that Wlat was tolerated as long as he was at Pitt.

Ed Hochuli might beg to differ on that...

Re: 49ers coach - martyup - 09-29-2014

I'm wondering if JH, being the stubborn mule that he is, wouldn't want to return to the college ranks without a SB ring.  On the other hand, he jumped to the NFL without a college NC ring.  On the third hand, how long would it take for him to whip the Wolverines into a NC caliber team.  That's a big mountain to climb.

His pleasure, no doubt.

Didn't take him long to set Stanford on that path, and Michigan can't be any worse than we were when he arrived.

Would not be at all surprised if he's worn out his welcome in SF... :D

Just got in the door from Seattle. You all are doing the Lord's work here already. Congrats.

Never been happier with a typo.  :)

Re: 49ers coach - PrinceLightfoot - 09-29-2014

I doubt JH will return to college ball now. He would consider that failing especially since his record in the NFL has been exceptional unlike Spurrier or Saban. Another struggling team in the NFL would most likely pick him up knowing full well that he can wear down those around him over time. If he does return to college ball, it will be after he has had his fill of the NFL.

Re: 49ers coach - washingtonismoney - 09-29-2014

Considering the guy nearly left Stanford for Kansas, I'm not sure why anyone feels certain about what Harbaugh might or might not do. I could see him coaching for Michigan. I could see him coaching for the Niners. Or another team.

I've heard this mentioned but don't know the deal. Why would he have gone to Kansas?

Re: 49ers coach - Hey - 09-29-2014

I'm forever in awe of the work Harbaugh and Bowlsby did to turn around the football program.  On and off the field.

Re: 49ers coach - FarmBoy - 09-29-2014

As it relates to Stanford, I hope Harbaugh holds that job. You know that Day 1 of that opening it will be "Sources say Shaw is in discussions with the 49ers..." And given his wife's desire not to leave the area, you can be that's one NFL job that would have a strong draw.
