Shaw with "lifetime deal" - washingtonismoney - 09-30-2014

The umpteenth version of the "Will Shaw leave?" story produces a new detail: Shaw has something "tantamount to a lifetime deal": http://www.mercurynews.com/raiders/ci_26635651/stanfords-shaw-shoots-down-interest-raiders-job

I definitely heard that previously, I think after the Rose Bowl win. Maybe it was just speculation back then, but I'm quite certain it was being floated.

Apparently actual lifetime deals are illegal, but there's some kind of annual +1 clause.

Whose lifetime, his or mine?  Hope it's at least mine :)

Well, we knew he got an extension but knew little about the terms. (At least publicly.)

Shaw bought a really nice ocean view home in Rio del Mar for $4.5 million in March.  Pix at http://www.latimes.com/business/realestate/hot-property/la-fi-hotprop-david-shaw-20140612-story.html .  I'm sure he wants to be close enough to enjoy it...

That looks like rental property.

Re: Shaw with "lifetime deal" - thunder_chik - 09-30-2014

Certainly has rental potential, with enough square footage for family (Mom & Dad?) use.

There are "lifetime deals" and then there are lifetime deals - Redrum - 10-01-2014

Believe me, a lifetime deal with Stanford is better than a lifetime deal with the Raiders.  The Raiders' management would simply interpret the contract literally and announce the new Raiders coach right after Shaw's funeral.
