Hard to believe, but there it is.

Will our offense even be able to score 18 points?

I know the common wisdom here is that we have the best defense in the land, and that C.al sucks, but are we going to reduce Halliday to jello? Pour through that terrible WSU OL, like we did Notre Dame's jury-rigged line, and shut down that 700 yard passing attack? I hope so.

WSU is horrible defensively. LSJU will score 45. On the other side of the ball, a good pass rush (something UC is utterly lacking) will disrupt Halliday (he is the kind of QB who needs a clean pocket to succeed). WSU will score 17. And, as a bonus, pencil Montgomery in for at least one TD on a KO return (UC tallied two). There you go, give the points and make reservations for a nice dinner......

Ferrari...
WSU has plenty of practice bouncing kickoffs down the field. After the second UC TD return, WSU bounced every subsequent kick. Kinda reminded me of Stanford's approach to playing against Deltha O'Neal in a Big Game a number of years ago....

Yep. My point exactly. Better to give up 10 - 20 yards than the whole field.

Laughable. Defense would need to just about shut out a QB who just set the NCAA single-game passing record for Stanford to cover.
I'm not sure they can put 35 up on the Little Sisters of the Poor.

When Stanford played ND back in the early days of the series, Rocket Ismail was returning kicks for the Irish and on his way to winning the Voldemort. This was 1991, I think. Every Stanford kickoff was pooched, and ND started every drive at no worse than their own 30. I was fuming in the stands, telling everyone around me that this was the most ridiculous strategy imaginable. We were foolishly giving up 10-20 yards of field position just because we were afraid of ONE player. Finally, as we drew closer in the fourth quarter, Denny Green listened to me and kicked it deep to the Rocket -- who promptly proved me wrong by taking the kick almost all the way back. I think he was pulled down inside the ten. Jerome Bettis then ploughed his way in from there. Sometimes it makes sense to be afraid of ONE player. No kicks to Montgomery.

Yep, baring a mistake he will not have a touch this season. Sadly that will be held against him in post season awards as voters fail to recognize that just by standing there he is gaining us at least 10 yards per kick. Well, except for Washington's all-world kicker and few teams have one of those.

Well, Utah leads the nation in sacks (with 28) despite having only played five games. Yet Wazzou found a way to beat the Utes on the road.
I think Stanford needs 200 yards on the ground to win this game, with a strong ground game key to ensure Halliday stays off the field. He's better than last year, that's for sure.
