My kid goes to c.al. I want to try to root for c.al, but S.onny D.ykes is possibly bad on a WH/BT level.

Pretty damn impressive effort by such an undermanned team. Cal came closer to beating UCLA (on the scoreboard), than Stanford did USC or Notre Dame. And Stanford wasn't nearly as outmatched physically as Cal against UCLA.
The jury is still out on D.ykes, but the team has improved quite a bit since 2013 and he deserves some credit for that, IMO.

UC has already exceeded expectations this year by winning four games. Most UC fans are satisfied with the progress this year (include me in that group). Given how bad things were when CoachDykes took over (the lowest ebb in my lifetime, yes even worse than what Holmoe or Gilby left behind), I believe UC is a bit ahead of schedule in their recovery.
We won't be able to truly judge CoachDykes until next year......

They look way better than last year, but keep in mind that UCLA always struggles in 59erville, for whatever reason -- think this is, rather incredibly, their first win there since '98.

I just hope that Trevor Davis will be ok. That was a very nasty looking neck injury that had the stadium silent for ten minutes. I found myself a little teary eyed as he gave the crowd a thumbs up as they hauled his stretcher away.

I talked with two C.al fans today. One owns premium seats at Memorial, and has decided that he will keep them...three months ago, he wasn't so sure. Both are wildly happy with Dykes' progress so far. If they manage to beat Stanford, Dykes won't be buying meals or drinks for a while...

I'm glad Ca.l is having success this season - as long as the wins don't get too easy nor too numerous. I like my Big Games to be easy Stanford wins lacking drama. Last year's edge of your seat 63-13 victory was about 13 points too close for my taste :)
