I'm afraid we are going to have to face it - JohnR34231 - 10-19-2014

We are a very mediocre team right now. The defense is good, but hardly overwhelming. The offense, when matched up against any competent defense, can get almost nothing done. I'm still hoping for 7-5, but 6-6 sure wouldn't surprise me.

This sucks being back in the "I'll be happy if we just Beat Kal" world.  And I haven't been this nervous about Big Game in a long time.

Well, I've been using Stanford football as an excuse to put off the rest of my life.

Now I can focus.

Don't we have one win against an FCS team, and therefore need to get to 7-5? Unless something big changes for the better, based on last night I don't see three more wins out there.

That would be a good rule. But I think with one FCS opponent on a team's schedule, that team could still go to a bowl at 6-6. ASU actually was ineligible a few seasons ago because they ended up playing two FCS teams on their schedule (a result of a late cancellation by one of their opponents).

No, the rule is that only one FCS team can count. So we only need to get to 6-6.

This is pathetic.  There have been many years (too many) when getting to a bowl, any bowl, represented a successful season.  I had hoped we were past that.  I don't think a 6 - 6 Stanford team should go to any bowl.  Rather than a reward I think this group would see it as a failure and, frankly, might be embarrassed by half-hearted effort and a loss to a "lowly" team.  I watched U.S.C struggle through this pre-Carroll.
