Not a good start. Stanford dropped the first two 18-25, 21-25.

So much for a perfect season. Stanford won the third set but then dropped the fourth set 20-25. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Ouch. This feels too much like the time the men's basketball perfect season died in Seattle, in 2004. That team went on to lose in the second round of the Big Dance. But I have a feeling this team will bounce back better than that.Â
What exactly went wrong out there? The announcers pointed out how often UW targeted Gilbert, who often couldn't handle the serve reception. Anything else to learn from today's L?

Washington's serving is just amazing. Gilbert had problems with her serve receive, but so did others. On the other hand, Stanford's serving seldom caused Washington a problem and even then, we missed too many serves out of bounds. Hope John Dunning has a plan B for the NCAAs.
