Luck to Fleener -
BostonCard - 11-30-2014
Nice numbers from both. Luck overcame a shaky start (fumble on the Colts' first play from scrimmage, interception on the next series) to lead the colts to a 49-27 win over the team formerly QB'd by the guy picked behind Luck in the draft. Luck had 5 touchdowns, including passes of 38, 48, 72 and 79 yards. His final line was 19/27 for 370 yards 13.7 YPA, 5 TD, 1 INT and a fumble. He also rushed 4 times for 20 yards. Fleener was the recipient of 4 of those passes, two of which he took for a touchdown, and amassed 127 yards receiving. One lowlight however, came when Luck had Fleener with no defender within the same zip code for what would have been (another) long touchdown, and Fleener just dropped it. D'oh! All in all, though, nice day for our boys.

That drop was so hard to watch. That's going to be a painful film session for him.

Yeah, it was a major d'oh moment. NFL Red zone cut in to show a replay, and I thought it was going to be a beautiful Luck touchdown. Then when I saw Fleener all alone, I was like "yes!" Then he drops it and I just shook my head. As I recall, the game was still early at that point. Thankfully, it's a lot easier to take when the team wins by three touchdowns and Fleener did wind up with a well-proportioned statistical day.

Fleener seems to do that with a lot of passes thrown his way, sigh. But he had a massive fantasy point total while sitting on my bench. And the Colts walked away with a solid win.

Going into my draft, my only real plan was this -- draft Luck and let the rest of the chips fall where they may. I picked Calvin Johnson in the first round, but when then in the second round I decided to go all in and select Matthew Stafford even though Luck was still on the board. I regretted it almost immediately, but that doesn't compare to how much I regret it now.

I picked Megatron one year in the first round and regretted it when he set the single-season record for receiving yards and still managed to score a pitiful number of fantasy points...he's just not consistent enough to help you win every week.
Luck is quarterbacking three of my four fantasy teams, and not coincidentally, those are the three teams with which I'll probably make the playoffs.
