Austin Hooper ended the regular season as the #1 TE in the Pac-12 by receiving yards.
The development of the TEs should be interesting. We played three TEs on a semi-regular basis, though Cotton and Taboada were more peripheral. And I know a lot of people believe Schultz was a much better prospect than all three coming out of high school; any chatter about their development? We could have...four TEs next year worth playing. That'd be incredible...maybe a shift towards a one RB two-TE set more frequently?

Isn't our issue right now that we have three pass-catching TEs and no blocking TEs? I'm not going to pretend to know how to evaluate that, but I've read that none of the three sophomores are great at blocking. Maybe another year with Turley will help? Maybe that's just wrong? I dunno. But it's definitely encouraging that this looks to be a position of strength going into next year.

Hooper is #1 TE in total receiving yards. I don't think that is sure to change. Neither Arizona nor Oregon have anyone active who is close. However, Pharoah Brown of the duckies is ahead in receiving yds/gm, but he was knocked out for the season a couple of games ago.
I have been wondering if one of the TEs will become a WR - at least in effect if not in name. Cotton or Schultz might be likely candidates.

I attended the Council luncheon before the OSU game which featured Morgan Turner the TE coach. He said that Cotton was going to be used primarily as a blocker, at least this season. Cotton had picked up the playbook faster. Taboada was probably going to be used as a blocker too.Â
We see these blocking roles clearly in the season stats for both players.
Cotton played in all 12 games. He caught 6 passes total and none after the ASU game.
Taboada also played in all 12 games. He caught 7 passes total and only 1 in the month of November (for only 2 yards).
