MBB vs. Denver -

Um, does anyone know why Anthony Brown didn't start the game for us? Seems kind of odd for your best player to be on the bench any more than necessary.

In 1974, we set the team record for field goals in game against Denver -- 49. At the half today we're on pace to break that record...as long as the game lasts about 2 and one-half hours more.
We scored exactly 6 field goals in the first half.

With 18:26 left to go in the game, Denver holds a 25-19 lead over Stanford. I remember a certain Stanford vs. UConn WBK championship game proceeding along these lines, and it did not turn out well for Stanford.
Well, I'm just saying that we shouldn't really be trailing Denver, and particularly not when Denver has only scored 25 pts in about half the game. Yikes.

Exactly 3 more field goals in the third quarter. This is an incredible game...in a train-wreck sort of way.

Time to reset expectations for men's basketnall again.

Wait! Don't give up yet... Baskets on two straight possessions!

4:19 to go in the game, Denver up 39-37. Stanford needs to win this...(I can't imagine what that game vs. UTexas is going to be like).

Tied at 39 with 3:28 to go!
Randle makes the +1 to take the lead, 40-39!

Stanford wins, 49-43!

Are you here, or are these your impressions from TV?

Don't know if that was meant for me, but, yes, I was there. Then hurried home for WVB. At this point, enjoying the latter a whole bunch more!

The Stanford radio guys said Brown was held out of the starting line up for disciplinary reasons.
Prior to him entering the game the team was getting burned by Denver's version of the Princeton offense prompting the play by play guy to remark Brown had been punished enough. Obviously Dawkins soon agreed.

Travis was getting burned a lot on defense. I assume that's why he sat so much.

Anthony Brown was benched to start the game because he overslept and therefore was late for the shootaround. He set his alarm for 8PM instead of 8AM!

And so the rest of the team suffered in those first few minutes for Brown's mistake...that's a pretty loud message, coach.
