Be on the look-out for non-sequiturs - admin - 12-02-2010

I\'m noticing a new attempt at spamming our board. A human (as opposed to a bot) posts messages on the board until reaching the threshold to post links. Then posts an offensive link -- and attempts to get access to email addresses or to send people to a site.

This does not happen often, but happened today, and several months back. If you notice a new poster making posts that have very scant relationship to the thread, please alert me. Use my personal account rather than this one.

A naked attempt to ban me from the board - Redrum - 12-02-2010

I can only wonder,  what took you so long?

If we are expected to identify "posts that have very scant relationship to the thread", isn\'t that just about every post by everybody? Do we have continuing threads?

Actually, I know exactly which type - Redrum - 12-02-2010

Full of totally unrelated stuff, pics etc.   Verrrry long. They\'ve shown up here only occasionally over the years.  Poster almost always new, one or two post count, if two, then the first was a similar post.

Re: Be on the look-out for non-sequiturs - admin - 12-02-2010

I\'m looking for NEW posters whose post have very little to do with the thread. This does not refer to normal thread drift, nor is it aimed at genuine new posters.

For example, last night\'s attempted spammer wrote something like, "i used to play basketball, but wasn\'t tall enough," in a thread about Tara\'s team. It\'s a total non-sequitur posted with the intent of making enough posts to post a link.
