Perhaps this was mentioned previously, but Mason fired Kotulski (along with Dorrell and others) after just one season as DC. Doesn't this seem a bit odd given that Mason not only took Kotulski with him to Vandy but in fact promoted him? Seems like a really short leash for a guy who had worked with Mason for multiple years at multiple schools.

Probably was under pressure to make major changes in his staff after going winless in conference this year. I seem to remember Mason making a comment about how he felt he needed to call his own defensive signals, so he probably was not seeing eye-to-eye with what Katulski was doing play by play during games.

Kotulski was Mason's boss at Bucknell from 1999 to 2001, when Kotulski was the DC and Mason coached DBs. (Lance Anderson also was on that Bucknell staff.) Mason and Kotulski worked together again at Stanford from 2012 to 2013, when Mason was DC and Kotulski coached LBs. Then Mason took Kotulski to Vandy. But I guess loyalty has its limits.

Bummer for Coach Koto. He was an absolute hoot at Council Lunches. Hope he lands on his feet - maybe back to being an LB coach?
