Quote:We don need no stinking AP classes
Side note, that's one of the most misquoted lines in the movies, as you can see from the posted clip, they don't actually say "we don't need no stinking badgets". Similarly, Cagney never said "You dirty rat", but every caricature repeats it.

Great new word! Possible definition: Any one of several items sold on late-night TV that look like they should really perform a great service....and don't.

No complaints. I've just always found it interesting that some of the most iconic "quotes" are apocryphal in origin. And I'm as guilty as the next fella.

How about a student saying, at some of the larger football factories:
"Transcripts? We ain't got not transcripts. We don't have to show you no stinking transcripts!"

The quote is accurate if you are quoting Blazing Saddles. Mel Brooks shortened (and improved) the original line.

I think that's true of most misquotes. The reason they stick better than the original is that they're more generally applicable or quickly repeated than the original. And most misquotes are eventually recycled in some sort of a spoof, so you could say that none of them are misquotes or that there are no misquotes at all.

This just undermined all my warnings to students working on term papers to cite their sources carefully

And then there's the (almost) completely accurate play title by Luis Valdez, "I Don't Have to Show You No Stinking Badges"
