There is a lot of twitter chatter about Wayne Lyons transferring to Michigan.  That would be a big loss for Stanford.

Interesting.  The Daily had an article saying that he was returning to Stanford for a 5th year:

But looking at the tweet they use for confirmation, Lyons doesn't expressly state that he's returning to Stanford--he just says he's going to "stay in school" instead of going to the NFL:

I certainly read it the same way the Daily did at the time, but with whispers of him going to Michigan, I suppose that his tweet is linguistically consistent with a transfer to Michigan.  He's going to "stay in school," which could be read narrowly to mean he's staying at Stanford or more broadly to mean that he'll be in school next year and delaying declaring for the draft. 

Anyone else have any insight?

I think a lot of those twitter handles were certain in their knowledge that Michigan was taking several of our coaches a few weeks back. Hogan too.

If Lyons is transferring, I think it may reflect on his outlook for playing time next year.  I think Harris passed him on the depth chart as the season went on.  This may reflect on the development of the redshirts and Alexander developing as well.  I am sure Akina knows what he is doing

We've already confirmed Kevin Reihner to Penn State, so don't necessarily read more into that non-statement than what's (not?) there.

If I am reading the Michigan roster correctly, they will have 7 scholarship CBs and 6 scholarship safeties on their roster next year.  Lyons would have plenty of competition for playing time.  And I think we can say based on reputation and results that Akina > Greg Jackson (the newly hired Michigan secondary coach).

Lyons was non-committal about where he was going to play, just that he wasn't entering the draft.  But I'm not sure he would start next year so this loss is not catastrophic - plus there is a LOT of depth at DB.

But there are several other guys who could transfer: Kevin Anderson, Crower, Harris, Hopkins, Pippens, Rotto, Skov, Stallworth, Yazdi, Young.  But I doubt that anyone who is a starter or projected to be one would transfer unless they have an issue with the coaches.  It's likely to be mostly backups who just want to play next year - probably for the last time in their lives.
