Re: Ivan Maisel - Griffins78 - 02-26-2015

Thanks for sharing, Garvin. What an amazing in-depth and personal article, especially for USAToday

Hoping for the best. Have had too many loses close to us in the last few weeks

Re: Ivan Maisel - winflop - 02-27-2015

Yikes!  Thoughts & prayers for him and his family.  I hope they find him soon.

Re: Ivan Maisel - Leftcoast - 02-27-2015

Ivan Maisel records a weekly ESPN podcast on college football during the offseason.  Sadly, I now know why this week's podcast hasn't been uploaded.  Praying for a better outcome for Ivan and his family.

Re: Ivan Maisel - Spiny_Norman - 02-27-2015

For those who may not know, Ivan is part of the Stanford family.  He is an alum and was sports editor of the Daily.  He and his wife are living a parent's nightmare.  Hoping beyond hope for favorable news.

Re: Ivan Maisel - SUBuddha - 02-27-2015

My parents and I talked about this last night. This is the exact situation my parents were in with my brother 30+ years ago. A car found near a body of water. In my brother's case it contained a suicide note. I truly hope this is not the case in this situation.

Re: Ivan Maisel - TrumpCard - 02-27-2015

I'm sorry for your loss Buddha. May your brother's memory be a blessing for you and your parents.

Re: Ivan Maisel - yvonne - 02-27-2015

I'm so sorry for your loss, SUBuddha.

@TrumpCard, MOT?

Astute pick-up Yvonne.

Re: Ivan Maisel - SUBuddha - 02-27-2015

Thanks Yvonne and Trump, I did not share that because of the loss, more because Ivan's situation is too familiar, and sadly I fear for the worst for he and his family.

Re: Ivan Maisel - jacketree - 02-27-2015

Wow, sorry about that Buddha.  My brother's suicide was 31 years ago, almost to the day.  No note; just an empty gas can and a lifetime of regret.  The signs were there - no one really missed them. I guess there is only so much you can do.

Geeze, fun thread :(

My youngest brother died 30 years ago in a swimming pool accident while saving his young students.  Not a suicide but the last time I spoke to him was harshly.  When I had to identify his body I wept bitter tears.  Never miss a chance to say I love you.

On behalf of Meg and our daughters, I want to thank everyone in the FWAA community who has reached out to us over the last three weeks since our son Max went missing. We presume he drowned on Feb. 22. The care and concern of so many writers and SIDs across the country has helped us cope with the unfathomable.
We are having a memorial service and a celebration of Max’s life on Friday, March 27 at Congregation Bnai Israel in Bridgeport, CT. If anyone is interested in attending, please contact me at Ivan.Maisel@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Ivan Maisel
