Looks like a fairly even matchup....except VaTech put its numbers up during an ACC schedule. I like our chances.

Stanford\'s losses to James Madison: 0
Va Tech\'s losses to James Madison: 1
Tyrod Taylor could be a tricky QB to contain--I\'m guessing he\'s a healthier version of Jake Locker. Â That\'ll come down to LB contain and discipline (assignment football, I suppose).

I would not put as much weight on the James Madison loss as the media has all year. Â The game was played on a Thursday, after a Saturday night game that was a crushing loss to Boise. Â Given that the Boise game was a late game, and away from home (although reasonably close), not much preparation would have taken place on Sunday, leaving Monday to game plan, tuesday to practice, Wednesday for a walk-through and a game on Thursday. Â Va Tech was basically a very unprepared yeam, playing a let-down game that they thought they would win by showing up. Â Even though they should have won, a poor performance like they actually posted was more than predictable. Â They bounced back well and are very underrated.

It\'s like a mirror image statistically.

Apparently VT has inexperienced linebackers who they fear will be destroyed covering our TEs. Â Let\'s hope that\'s the case. Â It should loosen up their already-middling run coverage. Â

Not to make fun of the guy, but doesn\'t Tyrod Taylor sound like the nickname of a railroad man in an old Western?

You mean like a guy who might have worked for Leland Stanford?

Good one, Yvonne! I didn\'t think of that.

Whenever we get a sack, it\'s a Golden Spike!

Terry, I\'d be interested in seeing how VT compares in Time of Possession. Â That seems to be the center of our offensive plan: Â keep the ball 36 mins a game, keep the defense fresh, don\'t allow the other guys to score.

In time of possession, Stanford is # 1 in the nation with 35:08 per game. Virginia Tech is # 19 with 31:55 per game.
