Congrats to the players. I hope the make the most of the opportunity and ride it all the way to NYC.

And if they do, hopefully that will send a message to Muir about the potential they have if coached by the right man.

If that happens Muir will probably think Dawkins rises to the occasion when he gets to a post-season tournament so he must get another extension  :(

Texas' record is pretty similar to UCLA's.  Both 20-13, both have a total of 2 road wins all season.  UCLA's edge is better play recently.  Texas' edge is wins over 3 tournament teams instead of 2.  Neither of those teams is very impressive.  It just goes to show how bad Stanford had to be to miss the tournament.

I hope they do make it to NYC, but nothing Stanford does in the Not Important Tournament should convince Muir that Dawkins should stay.  The bubble teams were weak and full of holes, which just goes to show you how truly mediocre Stanford was this year.

This is potentially the worst tournament season.  Three of the programs I hate the most (the Kentucky Colonels, the Frollos, and University of New Jersey-Durham) looking like Final 4 teams, and us in the Not In the Tournament tournament.

Why do the two guys calling the shots (who were former hoopsters themselves) tolerate this?

My guess?  1339. 

That's how many saw our opening win against Cleveland State on a Tuesday in 2012.  Attendance climbed for the games against Illinois St (1782) and Nevada (3020).  You could make the argument that the team was more excited about the NIT berth in 2012 but 1339 is a good start for the over-under betting line.

This is finals week for both schools, so end of the world might be most appropriate. In any case, I wouldn't expect to see many students for either school at the game.

And speaking of finals... Anyone remember the primal scream? It was a long time ago for me, but I recall it occurring at midnight on the first day of finals week every quarter. Maybe it was just a Stern Hall thing.

Unsurprisingly, there were a lot of Nevada fans at the game against Nevada.

Totally off topic, but that brings back memories. "Primal therapy" and the primal scream were in the news back in the mid-70's when I was in high school. Both the yearbook and school newspaper staff members would go out in the corridor and emit a primal scream anytime we were working late at night or on the weekend and got frustrated.

What Yvonne said.  In my experience the Midnight during Dead week Primal Scream tradition was still alive and kicking in the 1980s at Flo Mo, Roble, Wilbur and even occasionally heard in the Governor's Corner Suites.

I wonder when it died out?

we were still primal screaming my freshman year. We did it less after that, but I attributed that to a too-cool-for-school feeling more than anything. dunno if people are primal screaming these days.
