It's all the trajectory your team is on.  I went to two NIT games at SMU when they were screwed out of the big dance last year.

1) the program looked like it was going somewhere

2) the team played flat out fun basketball

3) thanks to 2 above, the ticket was actually a hot commodity.

Hey, winflop, give it a rest.  For someone who professes to be so completely and utterly uninterested in Stanford basketball these days, you seem to never miss a chance to get in a negative comment.  If you don't want to root for the Cardinal, that's fine.  But, what's with this obsession that seems to require you to dump on the team any chance you get?

I bought my tickets; I'll be there tonight rooting for Chasson, and Anthony, and Stefan, and Travis [or Reid, I always get that mixed up ...  :) ], and Marcus and the rest of the gang to get a victory and move on.  From your comments, I'm assuming you're not planning on being there.

Maybe I'm crazy, though.  Maybe those guys really wish that we would all stay home and write critical posts about the coach and the program every chance we get, and about how it's all so mediocre.  Maybe you've got it all right and I've got it all wrong.  If so, then more power to you.

Harrumph...

I will watch on TV and root for the players, as I have done at least a dozen times this year.  I will never root against Stanford in anything.

But I want a better program.  I want Maples to be noisy again.  I want a real Sixth Man section again.  I want Stanford MBB to be relevant and feared.  I want a team that plays at or above its talent level, as I think they did far more often than not for 20+ years until 2008.

When there are signs that will happen I will happily spend money on Stanford MBB but not until.
