Re: WWP championship - Extra Point - 05-10-2015

This link is not working for me. Anyone know of another site?

Re: WWP championship - Rally - 05-10-2015

Works for me on iPad.  Tuned in just in time to see UCLA tie it :(

Re: WWP championship - Rally - 05-10-2015

Tied at 3 in 2nd.  Stanford power play coming up.

Re: WWP championship - BobK - 05-10-2015

Tied at the half at 4.  Loud here.  Like the Maples of old.

Re: WWP championship - 2 for 2028 - 05-10-2015

4-4 at the half.  We are the better team, just need to keep it together.

Re: WWP championship - CornFed - 05-10-2015

link works great for me.  Thanks 2 for 2028.  I am watching at work.  Amazing stamina!

Re: WWP championship - BobK - 05-10-2015

After 3.  5-4 Stanford

Re: WWP championship - CompSci87 - 05-10-2015

Works for me on Android with the NCAA app, but video and sound are jerky, so tough to follow.

On Linux the Flash-based player comes up but won't play anything (Firefox or Chrome). Sigh.

Re: WWP championship - CompSci87 - 05-10-2015

Android app is working OK for me on the 2nd try.

Is WP always non-stop whistles? It seems like almost continuous common fouls, lots of exclusion fouls, and now a  penalty on UCLA for calling a timeout while (momentarily!) not having possession.

Re: WWP championship - BobK - 05-10-2015

We are the champion

Re: WWP championship - CompSci87 - 05-10-2015

All right now!

Re: WWP championship - PrinceLightfoot - 05-10-2015

Yay!!!! Champs again!

Re: WWP championship - Viking_Guy - 05-10-2015

Final 7-6, on a bizarre penalty shot call.  UCLA blocked Stanford's shot with 11 seconds left, but their keeper Sami Hill got rid of the ball under pressure - just as her coach called a timeout.  Timeout without possession is a penalty - which is how the Olympic semifinal in 2012 ended up in overtime.

Great game from the Stanford perimeter.  Not so great for the 2-meter - Grossman called for two contra-fouls and an exclusion with the game in the balance in the fourth quarter.  OTOH, their defense on Barr, Donohoe et al inside was fantastic.  More generally, not great offense - a whole lot of disconnected passes from Yelizarova.  But enough Neushul to offset.

And yes, CS87, the whistle is fairly constant, especially with two teams that emphasize pressing defense.

I was SO afraid UCLA's last-second lob shot was going to find the back corner, but it came off the top of the crossbar.  It was damned close.

Yay!

Re: WWP championship - Spiny_Norman - 05-10-2015

Congratulations to Coach Tanner and the women's water polo team!  And it was fantastic for the home fans to see Stanford awarded the NC.

The incoming frosh are highly accomplished.  Makenzie Fischer and Madison Berggren helped the USA Women’s National Team win the gold medal at the FINA Intercontinental Tournament last weekend.  However, we don't know if they and perhaps others with eligibility like Maggie Steffens, Anna Yelizarova and Gabby Stone might skip the 2016 collegiate season in favor of Olympics prep.

If you didn't see outstanding swimmer Katie Ledecky will defer enrollment for a year

Rio is coming oh so soon.  I listened to an interview with Kerry Walsh the other day and she said winning gold in Rio is her full time job.  Works out 6 - 8 hours/day, six days/week.  For Ledecky, personal goals, glory, fame and money are all out there.  No one knows what the future holds, but none of that melds with a freshman year at Stanford.  Go Katie!
