Currently tied for 6th, at +1, through holes 15-16.  Charlotte is first at -10 through holes 10-14.  Oof.

Only top 5 advance, so hopefully Friday and Saturday will be better.

Stanford has finished its first round and are currently in 7th, 12 shots back of the lead and 4 shots short of a tie for 5th.  not a great start but still with time to turn it around.

With team on holes 9 through 11, Cardinal at -10 for the day and -8 for the tournament.  Moved up three spots to tie for third.  Next best performance today is -6.

Cardinal now at -12 for the day and in third place at -10 for tournament.  All five players below par, led by Maverick at -6.

My goodness, the red numbers.  Stanford -14 -15 on the day, 20 birdies against 6 bogies.  Maverick with a -7 through 13 holes.  Finishing up on the front 9, holes 5-8.

Guess one day to learn the course and adjust to the time zone can make a big difference.

Cardinal now tied for first with yesterday's leader Charlotte, both at -11 for tournament.  Charlotte still on the course.

Sixth place team is at -1 for tournament so advancing tomorrow seems highly likely.  That should provide at least 50 valuable Directors' Cup points.

Ah, youth.  These guys are phenomenal!  As I've said, and others have observed, these fellas are very good.  They are subject to some letdowns occasionally (but less and less often it seems), but when they get on a roll they are simply hard to believe!

Great round for Stanford today. Stanford finished at 13 under par today. Four players were below par, the fifth one at par. Some of the other teams are still on the course, but as of this moment, nobody else is better than 4 under par for the round. Stanford is in a good position to finish in the top 5 and advance. Stanford is 11 under for the tournament, which gives us a 10-stroke lead over the 6th place teams, Clemson and North Carolina.

The team still has work to do to secure the spot in the NCAA championship field.  Just as Stanford went low today and made up 16 shots on 1st round leader Charlotte, things could turn around tomorrow.  The putts that fell today may spin out.  Drives end up a few inches in the rough instead the fairway.  Here's hoping the team can grind out a qualifying score.  They will be paired with Charlotte and national #1 Florida State.

The future looks bright too.  No seniors on Stanford's team at the regional.  Incoming frosh Isaiah Salinda shot 64 at a US Open qualifier at Stanford this past week.

Also keep an eye on the pros this weekend.  Patrick Rodgers tied for the lead at the Wells Fargo Championship midway through the 2nd round.

Spiny, Patrick ended up two strokes back, but that is a sensational appearance so far.  What a time for Stanford golf we're living in!  And Stanford football.  And Stanford Women's Water Polo.  And on and on and on.  ;D
