Quote:But the most impressive thing about the effort head coach David Shaw and his staff turned in with the 2015 class is that at the end of the cycle, all 22 recruits went through the Stanford admissions process and were admitted to the school. Every one of that group of 22 signed with Stanford.
Signing 100 percent of the recruits in your available pool is virtually unheard of in college football recruiting, but Stanford has turned into an overwhelming favorite for any recruit who makes it through its difficult admissions gauntlet.
Someone out there "gets it".

While I love positive stories about Stanford, that statistic doesn't mean what the reporter says it means. The football team is doing a fabulous job of recruiting out of a very small pool of recruitable high school athletes -- but it's not getting 100% of that pool. First, having all 22 recruits admitted isn't the same thing as having everyone who was admitted choose to attend. Do we know whether anyone was admitted and chose to go elsewhere? Whether someone was admitted isn't public information in those cases. Second, even if it were true that everyone who was admitted chose to attend, that's very different from having everyone who could be admitted choose to attend (which is the way the reporter is portraying the statistic). I suspect there are a significant number of potential recruits who could have been admitted, but didn't bother to go through the admissions process because they had already chosen to go elsewhere.

Sadly not a true statement.
Could have been admitted? No clue what that means especially to the 95% of non students who were not admitted.Â
BTW I have heard that a greater number than anticipated of the 5% have chosen to attend Stanford.Â

Yes, a wild misread of the data.
But it also is true that Stanford's cast-to-catch ratio has become extraordinary. Our conversion rate must be in the nation's top five and we may end up this class with winning records against every major program--including Alabama and SC.Â

Stanford drew the "Bank Error In Your Favor" card from the Monopoly deck of football media and program perception. Let's take it. We were the victims of East Coast (and pro-USC) bias for decades, we should be thrilled.
