Article on Graduate Transfers with focus on Golson to FSU - TrumpCard - 05-20-2015

I know there has been a lot of discussion about the graduate transfer rule in general, but I don't think anything has been posted since Golson announced his transfer to FSU.  Here's an interesting article:

I think the article may have reached an incorrect conclusion that Golson took a risk by choosing FSU over various SEC schools.  I'm speculating, but it sounds to me like the SEC schools were barred from taking him due to discipline UDFG imposed on him for cheating.

I wish I could be more specific regarding the particular graduate department at FSU that accepted Golson, but I have not seen any mention of it.  I am sure that Golson will learn a lot in this unidentified graduate department, and I look forward to hearing about his receipt of an advanced degree.  In the highly unlikely event that things don't go quite as planned, I am confident that FSU has sufficient, recent experience in crisis PR to adeptly handle any situation that might arise with its new quarterback. How did Golson graduate after being suspended?  Maybe he "graduated" in that imfamous 7 year Faber course nicknamed "Blutarski Heaven."

He was suspended for a semester.  At a lot of programs it would not even be possible for a football player to lose a semester and still graduate in 4 years (see UCB).  Seems like he spent that time with a quarterback guru type.  Not too sure if he enrolled classes, but could be possible to graduate without credits in that semester.

Maybe he earned community college credits that transferred.

I thought that might have been the case too, but no press release or article ever mentioned that notion.  A few mentioned that he spent time with a QB guru.  I did not find any mention of classes at the local community college.  My guess is that most ND football players have very light fall loads anyway, so it would not have been too hard to get the required units for graduation without that one football semester.

I guess most programs would not care what he was doing as long as he came back in December ready to practice.  The articles generally noted that he was ready to return, but would not be allowed to play in the bowl game that year even though it was after the semester suspension.
