Maverick is tied for 18th. Went three under
Patrick Rodgers is a stroke back of him.
Very very cool.
Rodgers, the 6th or 7th longest driver on the tour, averaged 308.1 today. Maverick averaged 308.2. Holmes has been the longest, at 315.2

My guess is that you don't want to type 'holmes longest' into a search engine. Well, maybe you do.

Reminds me of a very funny story when I was in medical school. There's a great Thai restaurant in Boston called the Brown Sugar Cafe (
http://www.brownsugarcafe.com/). I can probably stop my story right there, cause I am sure you all can guess what happened next when I tried to search for "Brown Sugar".

Not sure why, but PGATour.com has Rodgers at #1 in driving distance. They show only four drives total, averaging 334 (!). Perhaps it has not been updated, or is derived differently than the source you used, Hulk, but just thought I'd throw that in. Also, I don't know if the stat is any more reliable for "strokes gained putting", but it confirms what we already know. That is, he has some significant work to do on the greens if he wants to become a factor on tour.

Driving distance is not measured on all holes. It is typically measured on only 1 or 2 holes each tournament.
Re: Cool news from Greenbrier -
Hulk01 - 07-02-2015
Measured on two holes per round, usually two relatively flat holes with wider fairways, and that run in opposite directions to account for any wind effects.
I don't see the stat that shows Partrick number one for the season, and that number you cited is too high. That must be two drives in a particular round, or something--or a misprint. Partick is pretty steady about 305-310, and i am all but certain that Dustin Johnson leads (around 315 ypd) based on a reasonable minimum number of events entered.

Actually each round of each tournament. On the tour stats its showing that he has recorded only four drives. He's surely had more long drive samples than that. I'm also pretty sure that 334 yards would not be his average over a larger sample. Nonetheless, it is pretty clear that in the words of TrumpCard, or Trump or someone else, he's YYYUUUUGGE!!

Cool, indeed! You also might want to make note of another Stanford golfer further up the leaderboard.

Good starts. All three Cardinal alums are under on the day.
Woods one under, now -5, McNeally one under -4, Rodgers two under, -4.Â
Cut likely to be -2.
The bigger birdie opportunities are on the back side, another encouraging sign. Decent chance all three get in, and it might prompt some press coverage. Maverick might by himself, as he's one of just two amateurs in the field, I believe.

The Golf Channel commentators noted that there are 8 Haskins Award winners in the field. Three of them are from Stanford - Woods, Rodgers and McNealy.

Big round for Rodgers. Smoke the back side to get into the top 10. -5 today, -7 for the tourney, two behind the leaders.
Maverick has six to play, finishing the front, with a stroke cushion against the cut. Two good birdies holes left, no scary ones.Â

Maverick with back to back birdies puts three Cardinal in the top 25.

Marerick birdies again. Just a stroke out of the top ten.
This kid is special. A college sophomore flirting with the top ten after 36 holes.

This is really fun to have three Stanford guys out there. Now we just need to get Notah Begay, Tom Watson, Casey Martin and John Brodie to make cameos.Â

Maverick continued to move up the leader board with a -2 68 today. He's now in a tie for 17th. Patrick went -1 and actually slipped two spots into a tie for 12th (although there are still a couple of folks still on the course). Tiger shot +1 today and is well back at -4 for the tournament. Should be interesting tomorrow.

Right at this moment it appears that Tiger will win the "tournament within a tournament" by beating both Patrick and Maverick.Â
