Huestis continues to get a raw deal relative to the average first-rounder; generally they get three years guaranteed, with the fourth as a team option.

Well, considering he was a surprise to be drafted, and considering the uncertain position he was placed in going to the D-League, I'm just happy for him he's signed and has ~$2M guaranteed.

I can't wait to see him play at or near his potential! I figure the NBA develops players better than the current Stanford program, sigh.

Josh Huestis developed from a very raw and not highly rated player to a NBA first round draft pick at his time at Stanford. You can fault Dawkins for not developing some talent, but Josh's improved play and ascension into a draft pick is not an area to fault Dawkins imo.

The substantial majority of Heustis' development took place during his third year with the team when Maddog was coaching the bigs. There was improvement in other years, but nowhere near the jump he made from role player to key player.

Was Maddog our version of Luke Walton, recently promoted to the "offensive coordinator" role for the Warriors, formerly responsible for their big men?
