I'm impressed. (Didn't see this posted elsewhere; sorry if a dupe.)

Skov has a good shot to crack San Francisco's 53 this year I would think

23 fullbacks or tight ends? That is truly amazing! Can anyone hazard to name them?

That's 23% of the 40 players, or 9.2 (so I assume they rounded up from 9).

Thanks for the clarification. I should read more.
Still, 9 fullbacks or tight ends is quite impressive.

Skov with the 2nd best performance in the 49ers preseason game. 8 tackles, 5 solo, 1 TFL.
Can't play much better if you're trying to land a spot on the 53.

Australian Rules Football sensation Jarryd Hayne gained 63 yards in 5 carries.Â

The 49ers announcers still think it's rugby.
They also keep saying "skill sets" when they mean "skills". Drives me nuts.

Skill sets aside, the 49ers announcers are correct. Hayne was an Australian rugby player (played in the National Rugby League), not an Australian Rules Football player.

And then there were two. While Andrus Peat and Erik Lorig have roster spots with the Saints, the tenure of Alex Smith has ended:

Hope he can catch on elsewhere this season.
Geaux Cardinal!

That chance diminished quite a bit after the first preseason game. He played most of the game and did not look good most of the time. Got pushed around a lot.

I also hope he catches on somewhere else, but even if he doesn't, he's had a nice NFL career. And he's still got that 40-year thing.

I didn't see that game, but the official statistics showed him with 8 tackles, 4 solo and one tackle-for-loss. I don't know how long he was in the game. Sure don't seem to me to be job-threatening numbers. But I suppose the statistics can mislead.
