Sarah Robinson of W. Soccer -

What happened to Sarah Robinson? I just noticed that she is no longer on the team based on the roster. Did she transfer? Retired?
She was a highly decorated high school soccer player and cross country. Big things were expected from her. Itʻs unfortunate that her name is not on the roster. :(

Apparently she's going to focus on running, according to this July article
Quote:Â While Robinson said she has no plans to play soccer at Stanford, she didnt rule out running for the Cardinal. She might join Stanfords running club, coached by Plumer, in the coming school year.

Thanks for this information. I was not aware that she gave up on soccer and took a "gap" year last year. Hope she will run for Stanford.

Hope she does also but not at this time. Not on the XC roster. A shame at one time the #1 soccer player in her class and a great distance runner.Â

I wonder if she just burned out competing at such a high level in 2 sports. Gotta love it to persevere. Sounds like she rediscovered it for running.

Sarah took a gap year and ran cross country with her club and helped out at Gunn track meets this spring. I do not know her personally, but all the parents at Gunn know who she is, and she seemed happy and engaged with the meets while she helped.Â
The previous year she made it possible for Gunn to win the CCS women's title over highly favored Los Gatos by running in the 800, the 1600, and the 3200. There was some concern about asking her to run so many events--especially the 800 which was not her specialty--but along with great support from several other outstanding girls (proud father here) Gunn eeked out a 3 point victory--something it could not have done without Sarah's extra effort. At the state meet, Sara won the 1600 in dramatic fashion after the first and second place leaders collided and fell in front of her just a couple hundred meters from the finish. She finished 2nd in the 3200 at the state level.
Sarah was a quiet leader on her high school team and much loved by her teammates. All of us wish her the very best at Stanford, where she will receive a first rate education regardless.Â
