Today in opponent attrition: Washington - PrinceLightfoot - 08-17-2015

Three-year starter, OG Dexter Charles, is forced to retire due to a lingering knee injury. Bad news for the Huskies who already had a shaky offensive line situation with Charles being the only returning starter. I hope his knee heals fully and is able to fulfill other pursuits in his life.

I never want to see a player from anywhere miss a season; just the game against us.  Even then I don't want to see career enders.

Given the destructiveness of the sport these guys play, and which we all enjoy, I think any honorable, respectable player, (not guilty of illegal, or as is so often the case, misogynistic behavior) should be treated as an honored gladiator who has given his all to the sport and to the program.

Here's to a complete recovery and a bright future for Dexter.

Echoing others' sentiment, any collegiate athlete should be respected for the time and effort sacrificed for their passion/pursuit.  Tough to see a beautiful spectator sport wreak havoc on young bodies.
