Prediction Thread for Northwestern Game - martyup - 08-31-2015

It's game week.  How about a game score prediction contest for this season?  We need to figure out the rules and get it going.

Re: Prediction Thread? - martyup - 08-31-2015

How about we throw in a season win/loss prediction for bonus points?

Good guys win, 31-10.

I'll be interested to see how the former Stanford recruits perform.

Miles Shuler seemed headed to Stanford until the Harbaugh rumors got out of control, but then he ended up at Rutgers and subsequently transferred to Northwestern.  I wonder if he contacted Shaw when he decided to leave Rutgers.

Garrett Dickerson had an offer from Stanford at one point, but he had a disappointing senior year and I think there wasn't room at the inn.  He's now a back up at Northwestern.

Ifeadi Odenigbo was an elite recruit who spurned Stanford and the factories to attend Northwestern.  He may have had designs on more playing time, but he has ended up as a back up there.  Makes you wonder if he would have done better under Anderson's tutelage.

28-16 as we soundly win but they don't go quietly

Re: Prediction Thread? - Rally - 08-31-2015

43 - 13

Re: Prediction Thread? - 82lsju - 08-31-2015

28-17 good guys

Odenigbo wasn't admitted. Apparently he's become a solid situational pass rusher for Northwestern but doesn't play running downs.

Down 21-10 at the half, we score 24 unanswered points to win 34 - 21.

Odenigbo probably would've been a better fit in a 3-4...not that I'm crying too many tears with Kalambayi on board.

Anyway, let's say 34-20.

Re: Prediction Thread? - oman - 08-31-2015

Stanford 22
Norwestern 17

Re: Prediction Thread? - Leftcoast - 08-31-2015

31 - 20 good guys.  Sloppy game but we pull ahead in the second quarter and maintain our lead throughout.  Ukropina misses a field goal which would have given us a two touchdown lead.

Re: Prediction Thread? - winflop - 08-31-2015

41-20 Stanford

Too much team speed and swarm on defense - NU may catch the young secondary off guard with a deep ball but otherwise will have to sustain drives to score.  Good luck with that.

Hogan & Co have a field day with an undermanned, undersized NU defense.  I expect to see Stanford run a lot of single back formations with 2WR/2TE or 1WR/3TE and go inside, outside, and deep out of the same formation.  When the defense has no idea what's coming (unlike last season), advantage offense.  With nobody to lock onto this year, I'm hopeful that Hogan will be able to find his #2 and #3 targets - that should be expected of a QB who's got more than two years of experience as the starter.

And NU hasn't seen anything like Lightning McC - yeah, that's what I'm calling #5 this year.  And it's already a registered trademark so you have to pay me royalties to use it :P

Re: Prediction Thread? - fullmetal - 08-31-2015

Charlie Beall beats out Ukropina by nailing every FG attempt.

Kevin Hogan picks up where he left off and goes over 75% passing for 3 TDs and at least 50 yds rushing.  Our WR corps shows no sign of injury or experience.  All RBs see playing time and impress.

Defense eats.

44 - 9, good guys.

Or even better, there are no field goal attempts.

I thought about that, but that could also imply dead drives.  We might have to punt once.  But all other drives yield pts.

38-17, Stanford.  Gonna be a good day.

Re: Prediction Thread? - Stymie - 08-31-2015

74-1

NW gets a rouge on the opening kickoff to take a 0-1 lead, but after that cannot handle our 12 man O and D formations.

Re: Prediction Thread? - Durty Nelly - 09-01-2015

31-13 Stanford!!!
