Oh, my... - Redrum - 12-26-2010

I know, I know.   High school football players\' highlight videos make many of them ready to go directly to the NFL.  Wouldn\'t put it up on YouTube otherwise.    And, you also have to account for who they are playing against. Sometimes 1.5 good games get chopped up and rearranged to look like a whole season of Olympian accomplishment.

But sometimes what you see is what you get. Check out this highlight reel on our premier WR commit  T..y Montgomery.  Sure he runs around and through and behind and in one sequence over the opponents. But just watch his speed and, more impressive, watch his acceleration.  Not just in the open field, watch his moves and acceleration in traffic.  Will be a very nice get once we reach LOI day.

I had read somewhere that he was a possession receiver with good but not great speed. He looks plenty fast in those highlights.

I will say, though, the more clips I see the more I am convinced that tackling has become a lost art in HS football.

He does play for a small private school here in Dallas, against very poor competition, but from everything I\'ve heard, he is very impressive.  He has very good instincts and great ball skills.  What eases my fears about his playing against inferior competition in football is the fact that, apparently, he\'s held his own on the basketball court against some of the best athletes in the city.  From the many stories I\'ve heard, he is an incredible dunker.
