Where am I staying?  That sofa in your living room is still available, right? :)

(If not, I\'ve got the Best Western near South Beach for now.  The Eden Roc and Doubletree - the two hotels booked by the "official" travel agency - were sold out.)

Confirmed and enthused. Staying at the Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach, attending the Stanford pregame tailgate party, and seated in section 111. Thanks, garvin, for the tip on basing the travel through Fort Lauderdale.

I\'m confused and enthused :)  I\'ll be part of a young alumni group renting a condo somewhere, somehow and chipping in for costs.  I have yet to buy my Orange Bowl ticket, and I\'m debating whether or not to get a lower tier end zone-ish seat or a higher-priced, upper tier midfield seat of indeterminate rows-away-from-field distance.

I\'m flying in on the 1st (yeah, I\'ll miss NYE, sad) and flying out on either the 4th or 6th, depending on family stuff.

I should be attending both the Toby The Van tailgate as well as the Stanford tailgate (put on by Anthony Travel?  what?)...

George and I will be there and bringing along two other Stanford alums who aren\'t carboarders. We fly in on the 2nd and leave on the fourth. We will be attending the Stanford tailgate before the game. Anyone know who the he\'ll Anthony travel is?

The Stanford friends will be in Australia, preparing to relocate to Australia (coincidentally unrelated to aforementioned friends already in Australia), taking care of kids, and unable to get out of work commitments. Oh well.

As long as the Stanford team is there to kick arse, GoodGrief will be happy to be screaming his head off by himself. And eating Cuban style roast pork like a cannibalistic cerdo.

I will be staying wherever Hotwire chooses to house me. Btw, if you haven\'t given hotwire.com a shot yet, I highly recommend it. You are told the price, amenities, rating, and neighborhood of various unnamed hotels, and after you financially commit to one, you are then told what hotel it is. It\'s really cheap and the random element is a lot of fun. I\'ve used hotwire a lot, and most of the time have had great experiences.

Btw, on the subject of cheap traveling, just how much does Spirit Airlines suck? I\'m all for bargain, no-frills airlines, but they nickel-and-dime you to death. I\'m glad I have a cheap flight, but I also had to pay $30 additional to carry on a bag (it\'s actually cheaper to check it than carry it on) and $10 additional to pick a seat. And when you purchase your ticket online, a checkbox for purchasing trip insurance is automatically checked by default, so after being tricked into purchasing trip insurance, I had to go through the trouble of canceling that as well. Again, I still appreciate that I got a cheap flight, but the nickel-dime stuff is well, penny-ante.

Sounds like Stanford outsourced their packages to a big, definitely for profit, travel chain specializing in Universities.   Bowl Season must be the biggest part of their business plan.

I hear lots of the old timers (older than me!) miss the personal touch and lower pricing of the old guys.  It will be interesting to see how the new team does.  

They\'re certainly busy - check out their client list.  Looks like Stanford filled the BCS slot in their quarterly projections previously filled by another Pac 10 client, USC.

My son and I are staying at the Fontainbleau (as is the team, if I understand correctly) with several other friends.  25% room discount if you use the Promo Code STANFAN... still available just a few days ago.  Arriving on the night of the 2nd and flying out on the night of the 4th.  I sure/hoping it will be a chaotic, fun-filled couple of days; are any CARDboard activities planned on either the 3rd or 4th?

Yep yep, going.  Forget where we\'re staying, a buddy booked it.  I think somewhere near the Stadium for game day convenience, with the intention of crashing with our friends down at the beach on the night of the 2nd for the fun-time convenience.

My family and I have had a Disney trip planned for more than a year, so I\'ll be in Orlando.  I\'m driving down solo on the day of the game, meeting friends, then driving straight back.  Crazy, yes, but this whole season has been crazy.

Flying in with another Old Fart friend on the 2nd and reliving our youth with the Band.  Staying in South Beach, will be attending whatever rallies the Band does.

ha! the thought of piliing into a condo brings back awesome college road trip memories like sleeping in a closet (hmm, that was just last year), laying a divider of pillows down the middle of the bed so two guys can share it without feeling ooky (hmm, that was just last month), or divvying up one bed, one sheet, one blanket, and one pillow amongst three guys (we decided it\'s most equitable to divide it as bed/sheet+pillow/blanket).

thanks so much for the offer fullmetal, but i will reluctantly decline. i was originally supposed to stay with friends in miami, but that fell through. i think i\'m going to just enjoy exploring miami on my own. there\'s something very relaxing about being completely self-indulgently alone on a trip. but will definitely keep an eye out for you and other cardboarders/booties at the tailgates. I\'ll be the one wearing a Stanford shirt! And I still plan on screaming my lungs out at the game surrounded by 17,000 of my closest friends for 4 hours.

edit: Anyone else suddenly despise Anthony Travel for charging $50+ per head for their tailgate?  I should have just listed myself as a recent grad ($35) but instead paid the $55 of a mere affiliate.  This had better be a tailgate worth $55.

YEAH HOTWIRE!

On Hotwire, I chose a three-star hotel in south beach for $89 per night. Turned out to be the President Hotel, which Orbitz lists as $249 per night for the same dates. I believe the deal is still available on Hotwire, so if you\'re looking for a place--grab it!

(uhh, i claim no responsibility if it actually sucks. but it sure seems like a fantastic location, hotel, and deal!)

I\'m pretty sure I\'ve stayed at the President Hotel in South Beach. If I\'m right, let\'s just say it\'s minimal.
